This episode of MNA Multiply shares the story of Redemption Hill Presbyterian Church in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, a church plant with a desire to enfold the Deaf into their hearing church.

Church planting pastor Peter Doerfler never planned on starting a church that ministered to the Deaf. But he recognized the needs in his new congregation and the gifts the Lord provided to meet those needs.

We recognize that the Deaf do not have a disability. But we encourage congregations to connect with us when they are eager to take next steps to meet unique needs. Engaging Disability has encouraged ministry to the Deaf at Redemption Hill in various ways over the years, and it is a wonderful picture of how both the hearing and the Deaf can enjoy worship, discipleship, and fellowship together.

The Mission to North America webcast, recorded on April 20, 2021, provided more information than was included in the Multiply video, “The Deaf, The Hearing, and The Glory of God” above. The live webcast was simultaneously translated into American Sign Language by an interpreter, but due to a recording error, the interpretation does not appear in the recording. However, the webcast recording has since been closed captioned. To our Deaf friends, we apologize. We intended for you to be able to view the webcast with ASL interpretation.
