ROOM ON OUR PEW ENGAGEMENT COORDINATOR

I lead the church relations of Engaging Disability’s initiative Room on Our Pew: Making Space for All Children in Worship. I facilitate churches’ progress through our cohort program and provide tailored support to them in implementing sustainable, impactful worship practices that include children with disabilities.

“The adjustment to becoming a parent to a child with a disability was one of the hardest things I have experienced. My church community loved us, and theology kept me grounded, reminding me that my daughter has great worth and is a beloved child of the King. It is such an honor to minister alongside churches as they seek to fulfill the call to see, love, and engage people with disabilities in their communities.”

ABOUT ME

Born in Alabama and raised in Jackson, Mississippi, I have deep roots in the South and in the Presbyterian Church in America (PCA). I received my undergraduate degree from the University of Mississippi and served with Reformed University Fellowship (RUF) at Mercer University, where I met my husband, Greg.

After we married, we lived in Mississippi and Missouri before moving to Tuscaloosa, Alabama, in 2022 when Greg began serving as the pastor of discipleship at Trinity Presbyterian Church (PCA). Our house is full with three amazing boys, a sweet girl, who has Down syndrome, and an energetic golden retriever.

Before becoming a mom, I worked in several ministry capacities, including youth and college ministry. When my daughter was born in 2020, I became passionate about finding ways that our churches and communities could better welcome and enfold people with disabilities and their families. I believe the church should set an example in this ministry, and I look forward to seeing God continue to work in many congregations across the US.

I love spending time with friends and family, cheering on my kids in their sports and activities, sewing and embroidering, reading, and attempting to be a gardener.
