God is at Work

in Latest, News, Stories

Dear Friends,

It is a profound joy to introduce myself to the Engaging Disability With The Gospel family. Having stepped into the role of Executive Director in January, I have already been moved by the incredible ways God is moving through this ministry. It is a true privilege to serve alongside such a dedicated team and board of directors as we witness His grace in action.

A Journey Rooted in Service

My heart for this mission isn’t new. I have had the honor of serving on our board for the past two years. Before joining Engaging Disability, I spent 16 years as the Executive Director of Christian Education Ministries with the Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church (ARPC), where I remain an ordained minister.

It was during my time with the denomination that I first connected with Camp Joy, a special ministry for those with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Working closely with one of its founders, Anne Brice, I quickly caught her infectious passion for this community. Together, we were blessed to see that ministry flourish, expanding from a two-week program in North Carolina to a thriving network of camps across Florida, South Carolina, and Virginia.

Beyond the Office

On a personal note, I have been happily married to my wife, Grae, for 36 years. We are the proud parents of two children and the very proud grandparents of four. When I am not spending time with my grandkids, you might find me in the yard or attempting to find my rhythm on the golf course.

Looking Ahead

My experiences have only deepened my conviction that the church must be a place where individuals with disabilities are not only welcomed but fully embraced and discipled. My prayer for Engaging Disability is that we continue to lead the way in equipping and coaching churches to disciple and enfold children, teens, and adults of ALL abilities into the body of Christ.

We are deeply grateful for our faithful partners. Whether you support us through your prayers or your financial gifts, we know that our work is only possible because of you.

Coaching Update

Our coaching helps ministry leaders and volunteers connect with kids, teens, and adults impacted by disability. These workers are pursuing intentional discipleship and helping families become more involved in the life of the church. We love it when we get to hear stories of that “frontline” ministry.

Recently, one of our staff members was able to help his church adapt the membership interview for a woman with a limited expressive vocabulary. Using the Gospel flip book from our Simply the Gospel store, elders could ascertain that she understood the gospel. When she used the “yes” or “no” prompts in the book, they “heard” her express her faith in Christ alone as her Savior.

On the Sunday that she became a communicant member, the congregation was joyfully reminded that faith is a gift. What a hearty welcome into church membership it was! Your support of this ministry makes Sunday mornings like that possible.

Room on Our Pew (ROOP) applications for 2027 are now being accepted! ROOP is a cohort-style program that comes alongside churches to embrace, disciple, and enfold children and their families living with disability through targeted training, small group relationships, and guided application. We are looking for 20 new giving partners in April.

Every person deserves a place to belong, but for many families living with disability, the church can feel out of reach. At Engaging Disability With The Gospel, we are changing that—and you can be a vital part of the mission.

When you become a MONTHLY GIVER, you aren’t just making a donation; you are providing the consistent training and resources that churches need to open their doors wide. Your steady support ensures that no congregation has to say “we aren’t equipped for you” to a family in need.

To become a MONTHLY GIVER, go to the online donation form, choose your amount, and be sure to check the box that says “Make this a recurring donation.” Thank you!

Why Monthly?

SUSTAINABILITY – Your ongoing monthly support means that we can plan for long-term disability ministry training and coaching.

IMPACT – When you give a small amount each month, it makes a HUGE difference over time for our training and coaching.

COMMUNITY – You join a dedicated group of advocates committed to gospel-centered disability inclusion.

Whether it’s $10, $100, or any amount, your consistent monthly giving creates a lasting “seat at the table” for those who have often been overlooked.
