Online Training: Family Devotions and Kids with Disabilities

Presented via Zoom on April 21, 2020, by Ashley Belknap, Director of Engaging Disability

COVID-19 has provided us a unique opportunity: an abundance of time at home with a slightly slower pace of life for our children. This is a great time to work on habits that can continue for years, such as family devotions. Enfolding children with disabilities into family devotions can be challenging. The ways you adapt and accommodate the needs of one child can impact your other children.

In this online training, Ashley discusses strategies that benefit the entire family. She gives small steps to create family devotions that are anticipated and sustainable, rather than dreaded and dropped. She addresses:

  1. Ways to turn the challenges of family devotions into opportunities to grow in grace.
  2. Strategies to adapt family worship that benefit everyone, including typically-developing siblings.
  3. Strategies to build routine, predictability, and positive behavior.
  4. Resources that will help your kids look forward to family devotion times and help you sustain them long-term.
